I AM HERE

March has always been one of my favorite months of the year. In the U.S., March means Spring Break. It also means “March Madness,” my favorite sporting event of the year. This year, more than others, I am looking forward to the distraction sports can provide when things seem out of control.

My good friend and serially inspiring author, Evan Griffith, recently released his newest book, Soul Pages. In it, he outlines his daily process for tapping into inspiration, gratitude, and imagination. I have seen firsthand the impact this process has had on his life, and now it’s beginning to impact mine.

The other day I was doing my Soul Page, and this is what showed up…

I Am Here

By Travis Thomas

When the nights are long

and my sleep is light,

and my thoughts are gripped with fear,

I open my eyes

and take a breath

and remember …

I Am Here.

Step by step

and task to task,

the sun is drawing near,

I think of all the lives

I’ll help today

and remember …

I Am Here.

But then the news…

the news…

just news…

All the negativity I hear,

I get distracted and forget

my intention …

I Am Here.

The ego lashes

out of control,

Insecurities

and doubt appear.

Slow down.

Just breathe.

Hit pause.

Reset.

Exhale.

I Am Here.

I take the reins

and guide my thoughts,

Emotions and feelings

I steer.

No need for judgment

or regret,

Just compassion …

I Am Here.

Evening comes

and I reflect,

And hope to be sincere.

The goal is not perfection

but simply …

I Am Here.

As I release another day

my purpose is more clear:

To love.

To give.

To surrender all.

Just feel it …

I Am.

After writing this, I realized how simple the reminder really is. In a world full of noise, distraction, and uncertainty, the most powerful thing we can do is return to the present moment.

Just breathe.

Just notice.

Just remember: we are here.
