2025 - What's your word?

Hello 2025! A new year is upon us. So, what are you focused on in the coming year? How do you want to grow? Where do you want to…evolve…

My word for 2025 is “evolve.” This is the third year in a row I have taken a word to serve as an anchor and North Star to guide me through the challenges and complexities each year presents.

In 2023, the word that came to the surface was “value.” During the year I had to navigate numerous unforeseen obstacles, and when I allowed myself to pause and get calm, I would ask myself the question, “Am I providing value? Am I being valued?” And if the answer to those questions was “no,” I knew I needed to make a change. As a result it stretched me into new growth by staying true to my word.

This past year, the word that came to me at the beginning of the year was “trust.” I didn’t know why that was the word I needed, but as 2024 started I was confronted with a lot of change and uncertainty that felt pretty unsettling. To find clarity I kept coming back to “trust.” Who and what do I trust when things feel difficult? Again, my word kept me grounded and moved me in a direction of purpose and faith. It blessed me the whole year.

And here we are…2025. “Evolve” is what came to me through my listening and contemplations. We’re just a few days into the new year and I already notice myself asking the question, “What would it look like to evolve in this situation?” My wife is excited about how her husband might grow if I really take this word to heart. I am excited to see what this “evolution” looks like as the year unfolds.
